The Goals & Objectives Of An Anger Management Workshop

Anger management workshops teach patience and techniques to control anger.


Anger management training strives to help individuals experience their anger in a more positive way while avoiding any potential violent outbursts. These outbursts can bring serious trouble for the individual in every area of life, so learning to keep the anger under control can have extremely positive effects. Anger management workshops bring people together with certain goals and objectives in mind to help them achieve this control.


Understanding Anger


The first step in being able to control anger is understanding what anger is, and a main anger management workshop objective is to teach people recognize and understand their anger. This practice will emphasize the difference between warranted and unwarranted anger, as well as help people to identify their own stressors and anger signals. It can also help someone to identify what is known as "situational anger." This just means a certain situation or event that always results in an angry response from an individual. It is highly important for an anger management workshop to extensively teach effective techniques in controlling anger, stress and violent outbursts. This begins with recognizing any warning signs of angry emotions that are present and learning safely release that anger without harming others or causing a scene. Another anger management workshop objective is to teach a variety of calming techniques that will work for each different individual. These techniques provide a way for the individual to blow off steam and handle emotions properly.


Build Communication Skills


Learning effectively communicate with others during a time when angry emotions are heightened is another main objective of anger management workshops. Once an individual has learned control her own angry feelings, she must then learn communicate these feelings to others. Workshops teach each individual calmly speak their mind as well as to be able to listen to others as they express themselves. This is also an exercise about accepting other opinions without immediately becoming angry or irritated.
