Apply For Medical Workers Compensation

Medical Workers' Compensation provides you with the benefits necessary when you've had any type of accident at work. The law and forms vary state to state; however, the benefit is available to every worker in the United States. The process for filing for the benefits after you've had a workplace accident is easy.

Instructions

1. Make sure you report any type of injury you have at work immediately. The longer you wait, the more difficult it could be to receive the benefit. You are entitled to Medical Workers' Compensation regardless of whether the accident was your fault or not.

2. Acquire the necessary forms for receiving Medical Workers' Compensation benefits. Your employer should have all the forms necessary. They are required by law to provide these forms. If you cannot get the forms from your employer, you can file a complaint or get the required forms from your State's Workers Compensation office. A list is available at ic.nc.gov/ncic/pages/all50.htm for all offices in the United States.

3. Fill out all the details required in the form. Make sure you describe the details of your injury and the circumstances that caused the injury. Typically, you will need to give the date, time and location of your injury. Clarify whether the location of the injury was in an area where you normally worked. Also, describe the type of work you were doing, people involved and events leading to the injury. Include information about what part of your body was injured and the extent of the injury. If a tool, chemical or other object was involved with causing the injury, it's important to include that information in the form. Specify if there were any witnesses to the accident and whether you gave verbal or written notice to your employer.

4. Find out the insurance carrier for your employer's Workers' Compensation before going to the doctor. Your doctor may request this information.

5. Have your doctor fill out the necessary forms and file them with the Workers' Compensation Board in your state. Usually, this form will need to be filed by your doctor periodically while you are receiving benefits. Make sure you know how often it should be filed, and double-check to make sure it gets filed on time.

6. Turn in all your forms as soon as possible to prevent any possible delays in receiving your benefits.
