Detoxify Through The Bottoms Of Feet

Two popular methods of body detoxification involve drawing out impurities through the soles of the feet.

Some individuals believe that our bodies are full of toxins that come from the environment and also from the food we eat and the liquids we drink. Purification of the body, or detoxification, can be accomplished in a variety of ways, including fasting and using steam showers and sweating. One detoxification method involves purification by drawing toxins out of the body through the feet.

Instructions

Foot Pads

1. Mix together equal quantities of dried lavender, chamomile, nettle and red clover to total one cup. These ingredients are available at natural health stores.

2. Pour 6 to 8 oz. of hot water over the dried herbs and allow to steep for one hour. Strain the dried herbs and then soak two clean gauze pads in the remaining mixture for 30 minutes.

3. Wring the pads out slightly, so they are wet but not soaked, and then apply the pads to the bottom of the feet over the arches.

4. Secure the pads to the bottom of the foot by wrapping them in gauze or plastic wrap. Wrap the feet tightly enough so that the pads will stay on during the night, but not so tight that blood flow is restricted.

5. Leave the pads on overnight and remove in the morning. Discard the used pads.

Foot Spa

6. Warm several cups of ionized water, available at some drugstores or through laboratory companies. Combine one cup of a variety of herbs and add to the ionized water. Herbs and materials that may help purify and detoxify the body include green tea, ginger, lemon or orange peels and garlic. Other potentially healing herbs include red clover, nettle, lavender and chamomile. Experiment with different mixtures of herbs to create an individual combination that feels soothing and effective.

7. Soak the feet for 30 minutes or longer. Remove feet and dry gently with a towel.

8. Purchase a specialized foot spa machine, available at many drugstores, spas or health clubs, to agitate the water and provide an additional relaxing element to the foot soak.
