removing Dexter door lock set

I am trying to remove a Dexter keyed door lock set, but it has no visible screws showing anywhere. The door is over 35 years old. How do I get this thing off??? Will a Schlage doorlock set fit the hole? Any help will be greatly appreciated! JHR Hi JHR, I'm reading this as a knobset. Correct? On the inside knob, there should be a push pin. This will be on the skinny part of the knob, next to the door. If I'm not mistaken, it will be at either the 4 o'clock, or 7 o'clock position. To push it in, you will need something like a small diameter nail, an old dull ice pick, or something strong enough to push it in. Once you've done that, pull the inside knob off the lock. Next, you have to remove the rose cover plate. Look for an opening along the edge. It will look sort of like the little notch on a battery compartment on a TV remote. Pop off the rose, and this should expose the screws that actually hold the lock in place. Slide it out towards the outside of the door. This should do it for you. If you have problems, or cannot get the inside knob off, post back and let me know what trouble you're having. cuedude thank you so much for your advice cuedude!!
