Dricore has changed think subflor may look better

Dricore has changed - Think Subflor may look better

I am about 1 month from being ready to build my subfloor, and I found that DriCore has changed. Instead of big beefy dimples, it has these little wimpy stars on it. The leveling kit looks like a joke--I can't even figure out how it is supposed to work. I was already leaning towards Subflor as it seemed like a higher quality product, but I am now almost for sure going to get it. Anybody know why Dricore's design changed? It looks like a cheaper shape to fab in the plastic, so maybe it was cost cutting. I spoke with them at the Home show about this. They said the new flooring flows better with the new pattern versuses the dimples. I have two Home Depot's within 3 miles of my house one had the old style one had the new style. The one that had the old style could not get rid of it. I went with the new style it worked out nicely. We ended up using berber on top of it with an 8lb padding the floor is so soft to walk on. My floor was about 1/4 out i just shimmed it. Its not perfectly level i could feel the high spots when walking on it before carpet. I really can't tell now it feels realy good to walk on. It was a snap to install. If you have any questions or need some pics just email me. xxxxxxxxxxxx@hotmail.com. I have to agree with nighthaw2k. I installed 207 of them last summer. It was a breeze. I have to be thinking that the new pattern actually gives better support as it covers more of the area of the panel. At the time I installed them, HD had both patterns as well. I had to order mine (and had them delivered) and they were all in the new pattern. I originally ordered 200 and had a few left over. THe wife liked it somuch that I used up what I had left and bought 7 more to complete a storage area at the same time. I just had to make sure I got the same pattern. The HD near me didn't have ANY of the levelers in the new pattern, so I didn't use any. As it turns out, my floor is pretty level, except for one section that the whole thing is graded toward the outside wall, but still pretty even. I would have had to use a large amount of leveling cement to make it perfectly level, so I just left it. After about six months, there are only one or two high/low spots and I will tack them down with my ramset before flooring goes in over it. Which you're supposed to do in a few places anyway. Good luck. I wouldn't reject the dricore option just because of the new dot pattern. Tom
