Maytag ls1000 stackable washerdryer

Maytag LS1000 stackable washer/dryer

Hi, I am so excited to have found this site! I did a bit of due diligence by searching some sites, so hopefully I won't be taking up any (more) of anyone's time needlessly. OK... so my stackable washer/dryer won't activate/engage when I press certain cells on the controll panel. (specifically the pause/resume both the reg perm press dry options) The washer still works, as does the air fluff function. When I press the others I mentioned, I do however hear a sound coming from the speaker, but nothing happens. So... does anyone has any advice about what may be causing this /or try fix this? (Is it just those cells, not the whole panel or board? Someone in a different post mentioned cleaning a ribbon - is that the plastic/striped thing connecting the panel to the board, should the cleaning be done in a specific way?) Thanks in advance for taking the time to read /or reply. ~Darrin (Los Angeles) Hello Darrin. Welcome to the Gas Appliances topic and the Do-It-Yourself Web Site. Not exactly sure you are referring to the dryer. But if you are, the door safety switch may or may not be functioning properly. The door safety switch, located on the door frame, will not allow the dryer to turn on and the drum to start rotating, if the door button is not fully depressed in wards. Machine panel turns on but everything else will not start running with door button not fully depressed. If the above is the case, try this. Open the door. Use finger to fully depress door safety button and turn dryer on. Once the drum begins rotating, if it does, take finger off button. Drum should then stop rotating. If the above does not happen, with door button manually depressed, likely hood is the control panel button, etc is defective. If none of the above applies, use the reply button to add more details specific to the dryer only. Washer questions are to be posted in the electric appliance topic please. Thanks. As I said, it's a situation where some of the panels (pause/resume, regular dry, perm press dry) you push don't result in activating the desired function. It's 2 on the dryer side, 1 on the washer, though it's the dryer that's a concern b/c I can get around the pause/resume button by starting the wash cycle again. Also, since the air fluff dry cycle does work, I don't think the door latch is an issue. (though I'm a novice don't know for sure, it may be relevant) Love to hear any more thoughts... Hello: dmfb Based on the new info, the most likely cause is a defective touch pad and or the main control board. I mention may be or could be one or both since the touch pad sits on the main board. Some some or one touch pad key could be defective while for another key option it could be the control board. Neither parts are inexpensive or easy to diagnose. They are parts that can be removed and replaced with OEM original parts. In my opinion, best to buy locally at an appliance parts store. Often they know which part is more likely to be the culprit. Be aware both parts are or could be considered electrical and not likely returnable nor refundable, if problem is not resolved. Once purchased you own them, problem resolved or not. And likely part will not, may not or could not be warrantied... Use caution when buying online. Ask about these issues at the parts stores. Someone on a different site suggested to try cleaning/resetting the ribbon, so I did that but it's still the same situation. The thing that's the most frustrating is that I can hear the little sound when I press those 2 dryer cells (as if the signal is being sent), yet nothing happens. If I could only figure out where the breakdown in getting the signal carried out occurs... I also have checked the prices for the panel board which seem to be more than I could get a used dryer for, so doubt if I'll try to fix it, especially given what you said about how there's no guarantee that'd do the trick the unlikelihood of being to return them. Anyway... since it just the issue of being able to dry with heat I still would prefer to keep what I have, so if anybody has any more ideas, I'd love to hear 'em!
