Cat scratches on new leather furniture

Cat Scratches on new leather furniture

Any help here would be appreciated. Wife and I just purchased new leather furniture -sofa and 2 leather LaZBoy chairs. We have two cats, who have been declawed. Yeah, right. When the Vet declaws a cat, only the front claws come off - the back ones stay. Hence, our situation. We have noticed laong scratches in the leather surface and even pin-holes, and we know it's from these two feline maniacs doing whatever it is they do when we're not home during the day. Gr-r-r-r. Anyway, is there a repair system for this? TIA for ANY assistance! -Wiz Leather repair and cleaning is best left to a professional. Each cat claw mark is considered an individual repair. They typically use a synthetic filler material and grain replicating techniques. A two-step finish process follows. Twelvepole: Thanks greatly for your reply. I was, alas, afraid that there is no easy fix for the leather scratches and gouges. Anyway, these two imbecile feline Americans (being PC here) are so integral a part of our family that one must, I guess, forgive multitudes of sin; 'course these little guys have no idea that they've caused any damage; and, then again, why should they? The pleasure and joy they bring far outweigh other things. But I still want to strangle the little goofuses, like Homer does to Bart! Anyway, thanks again, Twelvepole. Regards -Wiz I have cat scratches on the back of a leather chair. It seems they occur when the cats decide to take a flying leap off the back. My 2 y.o. son saw me pounding on some steaks with the meat tenderizer. Well, he tenderized the seat cushion. It's those little dings, dents, and scratches they make our possessions personal. Those imperfections are full of memories. We have put our mark on them. And, they become more valuable to us. Another option is to use Ivory or Jergens bar soap with a bucket of water and a gentle scrubbie. If you put some soap on the moist scrubbie and use gentle circular motions, you will be amazed! Similar to the olive oil and hair dryer treatment, the soap is absorbed into the leather and the massage action brings small holes and scratches together, all while conditioning the leather. I got outstanding results using this method!
